| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Kenneth lived near Pinewood, South Carolina in 1980 Kenneth A. Avin Sr. Kenneth Allen Avin Sr., 63, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at his home. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late Eddie Marshall Avin and Alma Lola Johnson Avin. Mr. Avin was a former member of Pinewood Baptist Church. He retired as a general contractor after 40 years of service and was the former owner and operator of Kenneth Avin Builders. Surviving are two sons, Kenneth Allen Avin Jr. (Rachel) of Ridgeway and Kevin Keith Avin (Tiffany); one brother, Charles E. “Buddy” Avin; one sister, Barbara Joyce Avin French; and two grandchildren, Caitlyn Charlton and Tyhler Driggers. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Marshall L. “Roy” Avin and William L. “Bill” Avin; and three sisters, Mildred Avin Timmons, Bessie Avin McLeod and Mary Juanita Growaski. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday in the Chapel of Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home with the Rev. Clyde Chan and the Rev. Allen Lynch officiating. Burial will be in Pinewood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at the home of his son, 697 Pittman Drive.
