| HIST | of Manning, South Carolina Frances L. Mathis Frances L. Mathis, 92, died Saturday, Feb. 4, 2012, at home. Born Feb. 7, 1919, in Clarendon County, she was a daughter of the late James Friendly Lowder and Frances Timmons Lowder. Mrs. Mathis was a member of Home Branch Baptist Church and a Sunday School teacher for a number of years. She was also a member of W.M.U. Women all of her married life. Surviving are a sister-in-law and caregiver, Jean Lowder, and a number of nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Annie Coonce, Alethia Scurry and Laura Thigpen; and five brothers, Bernard Lowder, Scott Lowder, Allen Lowder, James Lowder and Kenneth Lowder. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Home Branch Baptist Church with the Rev. Bennie Barwick and the Rev. Robert Haynes officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Monday preceding the service at Home Branch Baptist Church and other times at the home, 2499 Stone Road.
