| HIST | Alph and Ralph are twins. The Air Force misspelled Alph’s name Alf and he has used that spelling since. of Sumter, South Carolina Alf Overstreet Alf Overstreet, 81, husband of Jennie Rodgers Overstreet, died Sunday, Nov. 27, 2011, at his home. Born in Barnwell, he was a son of the late James B. and Zellie Croft Overstreet. He was a member of First Church of God, a Mason, and a Shriner. He owned and operated Alf's Auto Sales until his retirement. Survivors include his wife of 60 years; a daughter, Pat Dabbs (Guy) of Madison, Ga.; six grandchildren, Patrick Christenbury, Ashleigh Thomas (Tucker), Beverly Gamroth, Garrett Christenbury, Guy Dabbs IV and Kyle Christenbury; four great-grandchildren; a sister, Annie Laura McCants of Bishopville; a brother, Jim Overstreet (Kathy) of Youngstown, Fla.; and special caregivers, Connie Windham and Rosa McClain. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Christenbury; a sister, Vera Bramlett; and a twin brother, Ralph Overstreet. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at First Church of God with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Kyle Christenbury, Guy Dabbs IV, Tucker Thomas, Ricky Overstreet, Glenn Overstreet and Mike Overstreet. Honorary pallbearers will be Adrian Ingram, Leon King, Arthur Beasley, Wendy Rodgers, and members of the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School class. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Church of God, 1835 U.S. 521 North, Sumter, SC 29153 or to Southern Hospice of Florence, 217 Dozier Blvd., Suite 201, Florence, SC 29501.
