of Bishopville, South Carolina He was the 6th of 7 children. He later taught in BIshopville and established the Bishopville High School Band. He remained at Bishopville High School until 1958. He then taught biology at Hartsville High School and later became the choral director. He retired from teaching in 1976. He served as church organist for the following churches: Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Bishopville, South Carolina, Trinity United Methodist Church, Sumter, South Carolina, and FIrst Presbyterian Church, Bishopville, South Carolina. He received the presitgious Order of the Palmetto in 1998. A house resolution to honor a lifetime of wonderful achievements and service to his community and state through his gift for music and teaching was passed March 8, 2005. at death- he had 5 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren [1, 2] |
