MANNING – Maria Lorraine Lowder Stukes, 100, widow of Archie Robert Stukes Sr., died Wednesday, Oct. 14, 2009, at her home in Manning.
Born Oct. 2, 1909, in the Jordan community of Manning, she was a daughter of the late John Owens and Mary Rebecca Ridgeway Lowder. Mrs. Stukes was first married to the late Walter Richard Ridgeway. She was a homemaker, loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, and seamstress.
Surviving are two sons, Wilburn Richard Ridgeway (Pauline) of Manning and Archie Robert Stukes Jr. (Martha) of Manning; a daughter, Elsie Stukes Melton (Bobby) of Manning; 18 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and 27 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, Walter Charlton Ridgeway; and a daughter, Selina Ridgeway Griffin.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday in the chapel of Stephens Funeral Home in Manning with the Rev. Carl Ritter officiating. Burial will follow in Jordan United Methodist Church cemetery.
Grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Stephens Funeral Home in Manning and at other times at the residence, 1140 Abernathy St., Manning.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
