| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Lillian L. Gainey Lillian Lambert Gainey, 83, widow of Raymond Gainey, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2012, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Georgetown, she was a daughter of the late Freeman and Violet Johnson Lambert. Mrs. Gainey was retired from Campbell’s Soup Co. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed her flowers. Survivors include one daughter, Sheila Gainey of Sumter; two sisters, Juanita Morris of Andrews and Connie Mae Elliott of Georgetown; three special grandchildren, Zanna Allen Truesdale, Tony Calvin Barfield and Joseph Clay Walker; a special niece, Melissa Walker; and her special friends, Patricia Truesdale Osborne, Wendy Griffin, and Mr. and Mrs. Buddy Simpson. She was preceded in death by two sons, Kenneth Ray Gainey and Murrell Lambert “Pete” Gainey; one sister, Ruby Smithwick Galloway; and one brother, Thurmond Lambert. Funeral services will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday at the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Betty Gainey officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Buddy Simpson, Allen Truesdale, Jesse Hughes, Paul Hanson, Zachary Hanson, Barry Brinson and William Smithwick. Honorary pallbearers will be Joseph Clay Walker and Tony Calvin Barfield. The family will receive friends from 4 to 6 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home, 947 Fulton St. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
