She was born July 20, 1933, in Lynchburg, to Porter and Alma Boyce. On Jan. 24, 1969, Betty married Robert LeRoy Poland in Boulder, Colo. They moved from Boulder to Fort Collins in 2004. While Betty lived in Boulder, she was employed with Miller, Hale & Harrison in Boulder as the law firm's bookkeeper and tax preparer. Betty is survived by her husband of 40 years, Robert; sons, Ron (Helen) Parker of Columbia, Mo., Tim Parker of Seattle, Wash., and Robert (Birgit Halbrieter) Poland of Fort Collins; grandsons, Zakquery, Blaise, Maximilian, Kaspar and Fritz; brother, P.T. "Pete" (Barbara) Boyce of Florence; and sisters, Perline Outlaw and Helen Hodge, both of Sumter, Margie Rogers of Joanna and Mildred (Marvin) Burress of Wedgefield; and sister-in-law, Ruby Boyce of Laurens. She was preceded in death by her parents and brothers, Charles Boyce and Dan Boyce. A memorial service will be held in Sumter at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the Pathways Hospice in care of Allnutt Funeral Service, 650 W. Drake Road, Fort Collins, CO 80526.
