Howard Burnice Griggs
Howard Burnice Griggs HARTSVILLE - Funeral services for Howard Burnice Griggs, age 90, who passed away November 22, will be held Saturday at 4:00 at the Kelleytown Baptist Church. Burial will be in the Kelleytown Baptist Church Cemetery directed by Norton Funeral Home. Visitation will be Friday 5-7 pm at the Funeral Home. Mr. Griggs was born in Patrick, a son of William Henry & Jesse Viola Gainey Griggs. He was retired from Sonoco Products Co. after 37 years of service, was a member of the Old Timers Club, member of Kelleytown Baptist Church and a Veteran of WWII where he served with General George Patton. Surviving are his wife, Ruth Johnson Griggs, Hartsville; two sons, Kent (Dona) Griggs, Conway and Randy (Connie) Griggs, Dothan, Ala; three sisters, Letha G. Barnhill, Helen G. Byrd and Beulah (Kenneth) Chapman, all of Hartsville; three brothers, David (Anne) Griggs, Sumter, Olin (Miriam) Griggs and Harvey (Helen) Griggs, all of Hartsville; three grandchildren, Scott (Ingrid) Griggs, Dacula, GA, Capt. Smith (Victoria) Griggs, Dothan, Ala and Ginger (Thomas) Phelps, Conway; five great grandchildren. Mr. Griggs was preceded in death by a sister, Carrie Akin and four brothers, Horace N. Griggs, James A. Griggs, Raymond R. Griggs and Roy Eugene Griggs. www.nortonfh.net
