Lavinia, on the east by a tract of 500 acres granted to George White and John McCotery, on the S.E. by lands now claimed by W.W. Britton, on the S.S.West by lands of Jane Wilson & her children, on the W. by lands of John McGill, on the W. and N.W. by Samuel James (being) two or more tracts of land I purchased from James Snow, he from Thos Potts and he from Henry Pareneau, as may be seen by his deed to me dated 17 and 18 Mar. 1777, these tracts containing 259 acres, part of a tract of 900 acres granted to Henry Pareneau 28 Apr. 1732 (testator feels he possibly bought the entire 900 acres, but is unsure himself of the acreage) Ö I sold to John Garns one small tract of 55 acres out of it and John Wilson another, number of acres I do not recollect. It was this tract I sold Jno Barness 55 acres out of Ö now the property of Jane Wilson and her children. Another tract of 25 acres, another of 23 acres, both granted to me 7 Jan. 1805. Another part of a tract granted as 396 acres, part of which I sold my Mother, part I have bequeathed my daughter E. L. James, the remaining part bound on the E. by White and McCottery's land, unto my said son J. T. James. Also, 205 acres granted to me 1 Apr. 1798, part lost by running into Hort's lands Ö also, slaves (named) and furniture.
