Dorothy "Dot" Hodge Truesdale Horton COLUMBIA - Funeral service for Dorothy "Dot" Hodge Truesdale Horton, 94, will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 3, 2014, at Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, with entombment in Greenlawn Mausoleum. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Mrs. Horton passed away Wednesday, January 01, 2014, at the Lexington Medical Center. She was born on May 2, 1919, in Columbia, S.C., and was a daughter of the late Bessie Olivia Lyles Hodge and Bowdin Irl Hodge. She was predeceased by four siblings, and has one sister Mrs. Donald Oyer (Bessie Hodge Oyer), who resides in Jensen Beach, Florida. Mrs. Horton was also predeceased by her first husband, James Edward Truesdale, Sr., and by her second husband, Thomas Bertram Horton, and one step-son, Stephen Horton. She is survived by her children, James Edward Truesdale, Jr., of Charleston, S.C., and her daughter, Beverly Truesdale Meng, of Columbia, S.C. She also had one grandson, Bernard Boyd Meng, IV, and a step-granddaughter, Rebecca Horton Craven, and two step-grandchildren, Harrison Craven and Hollis Craven. Her family acknowledges the long term, loving and devoted care of Carmen Mincy, for which they are most appreciative, and also Mrs. Mincy's team of CNAs who devotedly cared for Mrs. Horton for the past five years.
