ROGERSON Ellen Segars Rogerson, 90, widow of John Edward Rogerson Jr., died Tuesday, Aug. 17, 2010, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born in Lee County, she was a daughter of the late Burrell Washington "Wash" Segars and Edith Moore Segars. Mrs. Rogerson was a member of Bible Fellowship Church. She retired from the Sumter County court system after nearly 40 years of service and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, United Daughters of the Confederacy, and the Business and Professional Women's Club. She also enjoyed researching her family genealogy. Survivors include four children, Celeste R. Carraway (Warren) of Sumter, John E. "Johnny" Rogerson III of Asheville, N.C., and Burrell Rogerson (Jean) and Joey Rogerson Kathy), both of Sumter; a foster son, Joe Grant (Donna) of Clover; 10 grandchildren, Frankie Carraway (Leigh), Eddie Carraway (Wanda), Teresa Rogerson, Carmen Anderson, Buddy Rogerson (Jen), Jennifer C. Rogerson, Lindsay Rogerson, Dane Griffin, Ben Rogerson and Evan Rogerson; seven great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sarah S. Lockwood of Summerville. She was preceded in death by two brothers, Burrell Segars and Frank Segars; and one sister, Anne Mason. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Sumter Cemetery with the Rev. Dr. Joe Peek and the Rev. Bob Partin officiating. Mrs. Rogerson's grandsons will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to Bible Fellowship Church, 227 Broad St., Sumter, SC 29150 or to the Alzheimer's Association - South Carolina Chapter, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Suite L, Anderson, SC 29621.
