| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina, Herbert Clinton Ford Herbert Clinton Ford, 82, husband of Gloria King Ford, died Tuesday, June 26, 2012, at Palmetto Health Richland in Columbia. Born in Marion, he was a son of the late George Herbert and Mary B. Ford. Mr. Ford was a member of First Church of God, Claremont Masonic Lodge, and Omar Shrine Club. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean War. He owned Ford Brothers Service Station, Sumter Wrecker Service, Ford Brothers Wrecker Service, and H.C. Ford and Son Scrap Metal. He was superintendent of sanitation for Sumter County. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; two children, Clinton Karl Ford (Valeria) and Wendi Bowman (Dennis), both of Sumter; three grandchildren, Jessica Lane McGee (Brad), William Chase Goins (Jessica) and Christopher Karl Ford (Amber); three great-grandchildren, Lanie McGee, Peyton McGee and Jace Goins; three sisters, Jacqueline Ardis, Earline Cromer (W.L.) and Joyce Glasscock (Steve), all of Sumter; and a brother, Robert Ford of Camden. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Roscoe Ford and Burtelle Ford; and three sisters, Betty Jo Davis, Darkis Powers and Patricia Boykin. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at First Church of God with the Rev. Ron Bower officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. Pallbearers will be Brad McGee, Chase Goins, Chris Ford, Eddie Newman, Melvin Holloman and Gary Mixon. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to First Church of God, 1835 U.S. 521 North, Sumter, SC 29153. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
