Hodge, of Liberty, a retired bus operator with the Metro in Washington, D.C., died Sunday, Jan. 8, 2006, at the Catskill Regional Medical Center, Harris, N.Y., surrounded by his loving family. He was 94. The son of the late Mood and Edell Jones Hodge, he was born Nov. 25, 1911, in Sumter. In a family statement, "He was a wonderful husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather and brother." Survivors include his wife, Nonie E. Witherspoon Hodge at home; one son, Robert M. Hodge of Liberty; one daughter, Gaile Kraycer and her husband, Michael, of Liberty; one sister, Lou Harvin of Manning; two grandchildren, Kristine Cohen of Liberty and Melissa Jesmonth and her husband, Jeffrey, of Latham, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, Gregory and Ashlie Cohen of Liberty; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. today at Harris Funeral Home, West Street at Buckley, Liberty. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday in the funeral home. Burial will be in the Sullivan County Veterans Cemetery, Sunset Lake Road, Liberty. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the St. Jude's Children's Hospital.
