| HIST | Mary Elizabeth Smith Witherspoon SUMTER — Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Smith Witherspoon, 93, will be held 3:30 p.m. Monday, January 4, 2010, in the mausoleum in Greenlawn Memorial Park. Rev. John V. Platt is officiating. Dunbar Funeral Home, Devine Street Chapel, is assisting the family. Mrs. Witherspoon, wife of the late Thomas C. Witherspoon, died Friday, January 1, 2010, at the NHC of Sumter. Born in Dalzell, she was a daughter of the late Richard Sidney and Leila Geddings Smith. A 1993 graduate of the University of South Carolina, she was a member of Spring Valley Baptist Church. Surviving are sisters, Bonnie S. Moore of Dalzell, Edna S. Hagell of Columbia, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister, Virginia S. Jackson and brothers, R.S. and L. Jack Smith.
