| HIST | her children are too confusing- so I am not going to try and place them where they go. jkh Dottie Watkins Lloyd Craft Dottie Watkins Lloyd Craft COLUMBIA - Dottie Watkins Lloyd Craft, 103, passed away Thursday, August 30, 2012, at Lexington Medical Center after a short illness. Mrs. Craft was born on December 2, 1908 in Columbia. She was the daughter of the late Robert Coleman Watkins and Harriett Eugenia Hadley Watkins, both of Columbia. She graduated from Columbia High School and attended Winthrop College and the University of South Carolina. She first married Harry "Red" Aretus Lloyd (deceased) on January 3, 1929. They had three daughters and one son: Dotsy Lloyd Boineau (Trippett Boineau, Sr.) of Mt. Pleasant; Kay Arnold Lloyd (Georgia Covington, deceased; Margaret Fullerton of Columbia; the late Furman Lloyd Edmonds (Bruce Carter Edmonds, Sr., deceased) of Columbia, and Fran Owens Lloyd of Columbia and Torba, Turkey. Mrs. Craft is also survived by her youngest brother, Robert Eugene Watkins (Edna Moseley, deceased; Elizabeth Hendricks Morris) of Camden. She leaves loving grandchildren, Robert Trippett Boineau, Jr. (Margaret Capozzolo) of Murrell's Inlet; Elizabeth Lloyd Boineau (Jeffery Lapham, deceased) of Charleston and Edisto Island; DeVeaux Boineau (Palmer) Minyard (Francis Clarke Palmer II, deceased; James Minyard) of North Augusta; Donald Russell Lloyd of Lake Wylie; Bruce Carter Edmonds, Jr. (Mary Alice Rose) of Columbia; and Creighton Woolworth Edmonds of Columbia. Also surviving are great-grandchildren, Robert Trippett Boineau, III (Lindsay Moore) of Columbia; Alexandra Dotsy Boineau of Charleston; Caroline DeVeaux Boineau of Myrtle Beach; Francis Clarke Palmer, III and Andrew Robert Palmer of Oxford, Mississippi; Emily DeVeaux Palmer of Columbia; Bruce Carter "Trey" Edmonds, III, and David Whitaker "Whit" Edmonds of Columbia; Gambrell Leigh Edmonds of Columbia; David Russell Lloyd of Lake Norman, N.C.; and great-great-granddaughter, Elizabeth Gibbes Boineau of Columbia. Mrs. Craft was predeceased by her late husband, Christopher Hinman Craft, sisters Aletha Watkins Puckett and Beatrice Watkins Hill, and granddaughter, Karen Allyson Lloyd. Mrs. Craft was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Columbia; the Woman's Club of Columbia; the Columbia chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy; the Columbia Archeological Society; a life member of University of South Carolina Caroliniana Society; and the Richland County Historical Society. She was also a member of the Young Women's Christian Association (YWCA) where she assisted in finding suitable housing in Columbia for many young women through their housing program. During World War II, she gave hundreds of volunteer hours to the United States Armed Forces Hospitality Program at the First Presbyterian Church. She was a life member and generous benefactor of The Columbia Museum of Art. In addition, she was an avid historian and genealogist and an ardent supporter of Preservation Hall Jazz, whom she followed around the country for many years. Perhaps Dottie Lloyd was best known by thousands of fans and followers as the "Swap and Shop Girl" for WCOS Radio in Columbia for years. Some described her show as an early example of today's popular eBay method of commerce and exchange. With a brilliant mind, the brightest of eyes and most loving of hearts, her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchild all dearly loved and will sorely miss her beautiful soul and boundless love. She possessed unparalleled spirit, energy and a joie de vivre rarely found on this earth. Services for Dottie Lloyd will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday, September 2, 2012, at First Presbyterian Church, Columbia, with burial in Elmwood Mausoleum.
