Courtney Layne Rodgers and Averitt Adam Lucas were united in marriage at 4 p.m. Saturday, May 29, 2010, at Home Branch Baptist Church, Sumter. The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Terry Rodgers of Manning, and the granddaughter of Mrs. Sarah Poplin and the late Dr. F. Wayne Poplin Sr. of Manning, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lee Rodgers of Sumter. She graduated from Central Carolina Technical College with an associate's degree in science and certification in phlebotomy. The bridegroom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lucas, and the grandson of Mrs. Ruby Lucas and the late Walsh Lucas, and the late Mr. and Mrs. Joe Adam McLeod, all of Manning. He graduated from NASCAR Technical College. He is employed by Jay Hedgecock Racing Enterprises, High Point, N.C. The Rev. Robert Haynes officiated at the ceremony. Music was provided by Mrs. Dwan Beach, organist and pianist; and Barney Osborne, vocalist. Given in marriage by her father, the bride wore a satin A-line halter gown adorned with beaded lace and featuring a split front, a lace-up back and a chapel-length train. She carried a bouquet of white roses. Candace Rodgers served as maid of honor, with Lori Jordan as matron of honor. Bridesmaids were Stephanie Wells, Jill Rodgers and Abbey Bochette. Haleigh Geddings served as flower girl. The bridegroom's father served as best man. Groomsmen were Brent Lucas, Carl Spigner, Brian Bridges and Ben Rodgers. Austin Geddings and Luke Rodgers served as ring bearers. Also participating were Sigmon Bryant and Katherine Bryant. The bride's parents held the reception at the church fellowship hall. The bridegrooms' parents held the rehearsal party at the church fellowship hall. Following a Disney cruise to the Bahamas, the couple will reside in High Point.
