| HIST | Lila Mae H. Medlin BISHOPVILLE -- Lila Mae Hopkins Medlin, 90, widow of James Rance Medlin, died Monday, Dec. 12, 2011, at KershawHealth Medical Center in Camden. Born in Bishopville, she was a daughter of the late Hollie and Bessie Watford Hopkins. Mrs. Medlin was a member of Cedar Creek Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher for 78 years and as church treasurer for more than 60 years. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Bishopville and retired as a legal secretary at Baskin & Cothran and Cothran & Cothran. Survivors include a daughter, Virginia Medlin Stokes (James Robert Stokes); a granddaughter, Laura Leigh Stokes Greene (Josh Greene); a grandson, Nicholas Rance Stokes; two great-grandchildren, Paxton and Presleigh Greene; three sisters-in-law, Jane Jordan, Margaret "Johnnie" Medlin and Elvieleen Medlin; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by a grandson, James Robert "Robbie" Stokes Jr.; and a brother, H.L. Hopkins Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday at Cedar Creek Baptist Church with the Rev. B.R. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Hancock-Elmore-Hill Funeral Home and other times at the home of her daughter, 2816 Camden Highway, Bishopville. Memorials may be made to Cedar Creek Baptist Church, 715 Gum Springs Road, Bishopville, SC 29010 or to the Order of the Eastern Star, 221 Academy Road, Bishopville, SC 29010.
