Born April 22, 1927, in Kershaw County, SC, he was a son of the late Murdic Ellis and Mary Ann Self Outlaw. He was the retired owner of Folly Road Shell Station and was also retired from the State of South Carolina. Bob was a Noble at Jamil Temple, a Master Mason at Forest Acres Lodge #410, a thirty-second degree member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Columbia and a member of New Heights Church. Survivors include his wife of 60 years, Mary Ann Sharpe Outlaw; son, Richard (Melissa) Outlaw of Irmo; daughters, Carolyn (David) Mitchell, Gwen Franklin and Sherry (Ray) Massengale, all of Columbia; grandchildren, David (Kelly), Jason, Benjamin, Robert, Brian (Frances), Beth (Matt), Jennifer, and Olivia; great-grandchildren, Graham, Ali, Keith and Bailee. Bob was preceded in death by a son, Robert Keith Outlaw; brothers, Henry, Bill and Murdic L. Outlaw; sisters, Beulah Parker, Janie Outlaw, Ola Belle Hunter, Corrie Watkins and Isabelle Truesdale. Services will be held 11 o’clock, Wednesday, February 11, 2009, at New Heights Church, 5501 Broad River Road, Columbia, with The Rev. Mike Townsend officiating. Interment will follow in Crescent Hill Memorial Gardens. Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons: David Mitchell, Jr., Jason Mitchell, Benjamin Mitchell, Robert Brinson, Brian Brinson, Matt Granger and Bryan Livingston. Invited to serve as honorary pallbearer is Wayne Hunter. The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 o’clock Tuesday evening at Shives Funeral Home, Colonial Chapel, 5202 Colonial Drive, Columbia.
