MORAN Jr. Albert Thomas Moran Jr., age 82, beloved husband of the late Claire Kathleen Mahoney Moran, passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009, at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pittsburgh, Pa. He was born in Pittsburgh, a son of the late Albert Thomas Sr. and Veronica Zawicki Moran. He was a graduate of Carrick High School and served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a tanker and also played for the U.S. Army baseball team as a shortstop. He played professional baseball for the Philadelphia Athletics and later retired from the Port Authority of Allegheny County as a claims adjuster. His love for baseball continued as he managed little league baseball in North Whitehall for more than 20 years. He was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Pleasant Hills. Surviving are two daughters, Kathleen Moran Rumbaugh and her husband, John, of State College, Pa., and Cynthia Moran Bullock and her husband, Harvin, of Sumter; three sons, Albert John Moran and his wife, Sharon, of Phillipsburg, N.J., Michael Robert Moran and his wife, Catherine, of Pleasant Hills, Pa., and Thomas Paul Moran and his wife, Jennifer, of Shaler Township, Pa.; two sisters, Dorothy Binder of Chicago, Ill., and Geraldine Moran of Arnold, Pa.; 10 grandchildren, Ed and Ryan Storch, Ashleigh, Alyssa and Jonathan Rumbaugh, Kelly and Albie Moran, Madison and Sydney Moran and Mallory Moran; and a great-grandchild, Jack Storch. A mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the St. Elizabeth Church in Pittsburgh with Father Dale officiating. Burial will follow in the St. Josaphat's Cemetery in North Baldwin. The family will receive friends from 2 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the John F. Slater Funeral Home, 4201 Brownsville Road, Pittsburgh, PA 15227.
