Posted Tuesday, September 29, 2015 6:00 am LUGOFF - Graveside funeral services to honor the life of Jerry C. Way Sr., 85, of Lugoff, will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday at Forest Lawn Memorial Park. Derrick Parker will officiate. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday at Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel. Jerry C. Way Sr. died on Sunday, Sept. 27, 2015. He was born in Sumter, a son of the late Lee V. and Katie Christmas Way. Jerry served in the U.S. Army. He was a winning coach with the Kershaw Recreation Department for many years. Jerry was an avid outdoorsman, a big Gamecock fan, and loved spending time with his family. Jerry is survived by his spouse of 61 years, Mable Mason Way; son, Jerry C. Way Jr. of Lugoff; daughters, Terry Way Berthelette (JP) and Sherry Way Morrow (Doug) of Lugoff; sister, Barbara Robertson (Jimmy) of Kentucky; 13 grandchildren and spouses; along with 19 great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Jerry was predeceased by his parents; daughter and son-in-law, Susie and Shelly Rabon Jr.; great-grandchildren, Nicholas Morrow and Mackenzie Shirley; sister, Netta Kennedy; and brothers, Lee Way, John Way and Billy Way. The family would like to thank Dr. Pennebaker, Kershaw Home Health and Agape Hospice for their support and care through this difficult time. Memorials may be made to the South Carolina Heart Association, 190 Knox Abbot Drive, Cayce, SC 29033. Kornegay Funeral Home, Lugoff-Elgin Chapel, is in charge of the arrangements.
