He was a member of the Sumter County Planning Commission and the "Oreo Club." Survivors include his wife of Sumter; three children, Wayne D. Owens II of Sumter, Crystal O. Creech (Ricky) of Williston and Megan McKenzie Ross (Eddie) of Manning; seven grandchildren, Hailey O'Connor, Skylar McKenzie, Lynndon Owens, Tylan Creech, Jayden Ross, Bryson Ross and Cole Creech; and two sisters, Betty Dannemiller (Frank) of Aiken and Kathy Owens of Louisburg, Tenn. He was preceded in death by four brothers, Ricky Owens, Steve Owens, Bobby Owens and David Owens; and one sister, Carolyn Prebish. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday at Destiny Praise Center with the Rev. James Stewart officiating. Burial will be in Sumter Cemetery. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the "Oreo Club." The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and other times at the home. Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
