| HIST | John Q. Clark BISHOPVILLE -- John Quincy Clark, 91, husband of Margaret Raley Clark, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 9, 2011, at Tuomey Regional Medical Center. Born Nov. 22, 1919, in Angelus, he was a son of the late Alexander and Nellie Campbell Clark. Mr. Clark was a graduate of Macedonia-Angelus High School and attended Erskine College on a baseball scholarship. He loved baseball and was a pitcher for the 1938 State Baseball Championship team. He was a loyal Braves fan. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church and the Corner Stone Sunday School class. Following his retirement as a heavy equipment operator, he enjoyed working in his yard and repairing lawn mowers. He is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Margaret; a daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and George Cumalander of Bishopville; a sister, Lottie Ashcraft of Charlotte, N.C.; a brother-in-law, Jack Burton of Charlotte; a sister-in-law, Katherine Clark of Angelus; a grandson, Sam A. Tisdale III (Pam) of Bishopville; a granddaughter, Teresa Tisdale of Sumter; a grandson, Clark Tisdale (Rhonda) of Marion; seven great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Westminster Presbyterian Church, 230 Alice Drive, Sumter, with the Rev. Stuart Mizelle officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Memorial Park cemetery. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. today at Elmore Hill McCreight Funeral Home and other times at 418 Meadows Lane, Bishopville.
