Born Aug. 30, 1951, in Sumter, he was a son of the late Harold Chandler Jr. and Wilhelmina “Billie” Beasley Chandler. He was a graduate of Edmunds High School and earned his master’s degree in environmental systems engineering at Clemson University. Survivors include his wife of Sumter; two children, Karl B. Chandler II of Sumter, and Logan Chandler Babcock (Jeb) of Columbia; two grandchildren, Eliza Pearl Smith and Benjamin Rhodes Smith; a brother, Harold Chandler III (Susan) of Sumter; a sister, Beth Justice (Craig) of Sumter; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. The family will receive friends from 1 to 3 p.m. Saturday, June 14, 2025, at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. A private burial will be in the Church of the Holy Cross Cemetery in Stateburg. Memorials may be sent to The Church of the Holy Cross Building Fund, 335 N. Kings Highway, Sumter. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
