| HIST | Marguerite Vaughn FLORENCE — Marguerite Owens Vaughn, 82, of Ashwood, passed away on Sunday, March 2, 2014, at Heritage Home of Florence. Mrs. Vaughn was born in Kershaw County, the eldest daughter of the late Herbert Lee and Ruby Cox Owens. She was raised in and was a longtime resident of the Ashwood community and a graduate of Ashwood School. She graduated from Winthrop College. In her earlier years, she taught at Ashwood Central School and in the Lee County School System. She then worked in probate court for Lee County and later retired as probate judge for Lee County. Mrs. Vaughn was a member of Memorial Chapel at Ashwood. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Vaughn was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Vaughn. Surviving are her children, David (Brenda) Vaughn of Sumter, Bruce (Susan) Vaughn of Florence and Kathy (Rob) Brown of Boone, N.C.; her grandchildren, Bryan (Aubrey) Vaughn, Allen Vaughn, Catie Vaughn, Christopher Brown and Andrew Brown; her great-grandchild, Eli Vaughn; and her sister, Eleanor Boggan of Winston-Salem, N.C. Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Memorial Chapel Cemetery in Ashwood, directed by Stoudenmire-Dowling Funeral Home. The family will receive friends from 1 to 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall at Memorial Chapel in Ashwood. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 3223 Sunset Blvd., Suite 100, West Columbia, SC 29169.
