| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina Kathryn "Kathy" Marie (Rogers) McPhail June 5, 1957 ~ May 7, 2021 (age 63) Obituary Sumter, SC…Kathryn “Kathy” Marie Rogers McPhail, age 63, beloved wife of 45 years to James Albert McPhail, Jr., died on Friday, May 7, 2021 at Prisma Health Tuomey. Born on June 5, 1957 in Charleston, SC, she was the daughter of Jean Dixon Rogers and the late Lewis William Rogers Sr. Kathy graduated from Furman High School in 1976. She worked at Walgreens as a customer service representative for many years. She was active with and enjoyed spending time at the Lakewood High School softball program. Kathy was tender hearted and never met a stranger. She loved her family and will be dearly missed by all that knew her. She was a member of Lakewood Baptist Church. In addition to her mother Jean and husband James, she is survived by two sons, Jimmy McPhail and his wife Crystal of Knoxville, TN and Chris McPhail of Sumter; two daughters, Katelyn Phillips and her husband Joshua of Dover, DE and Taylor McPhail of Sumter; one special grandson, Declan McPhail; three brothers, William Rogers and his wife Casey, Mitch Rogers, and Darryl Rogers and his wife Traci all of Sumter; one sister-in-law, Martha Thomson and her husband Chris of Westtown, NY; five grandchildren, Dakota McPhail, Mason McPhail, Haley McPhail, Jodi McPhail and Morgan McPhail; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her father Lewis, she was preceded in death by her maternal and paternal grandparents. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 6:00 pm at the Lakewood Baptist Church with the Rev. Sammy Thompson officiating. The family will receive friends on Saturday, May 15, 2021, one hour prior to the service, from 5:00-6:00 pm at Lakewood Baptist Church and on Thursday, May 13, 2021 and Friday, May 14, 2021 from 3:00-5:00 pm at the home of her son, Chris McPhail, 60 Pepperidge Court, Sumter, SC 29154. In lieu of flowers, the family ask that memorials be made to the American Cancer Society, 1901 Brunswick Avenue, Suite 100 Charlotte, NC 28207 or National Kidney Foundation, 701 Gervais Street, Suite 150- 195, Columbia, SC 29201.
