Joye BIRTH 21 Dec 1922 DEATH 8 Jun 1963 (aged 40) BURIAL Old Johnsonville Cemetery Johnsonville, Florence County, South Carolina, USA Hemingway - A W M B Joy, well known Hemingway resident, died unexpectedly from a sudden heart attack upon arrival at the Johnson Memorial Hospital Saturday morning. He suffered the attack a few minutes earlier at his home. Funeral services will be held at 11 am Monday from the First Baptist Church of Hemingway. Burial will follow in Old Johnsonville Cemetery. He was a son of Mrs Mary Johnson Joy and the late Ernest M Joy of Hemingway, where he was born and spent his lifetime. He was graduated from the Hemingway High School in the class of 1941. During World War Two, he served as a military policeman with the U S Army. He was a partner with his brother in the Hemingway Livestock Market and formerly owned the Joy Trucking Company. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Hemingway, the American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. Surviving besides his mother are his wife, Mrs Nellie Bazen Joy, two sons, Pvt Barry M Joy of the Marine Corps at Camp Lejeune, NC, and Ronnie M Joy; two daughters, Miss Faye Joy and Miss Kaye Joy; two sisters, Mrs James B Wood and Mrs Lavern Rodgers, both of Columbia; five brothers, Homer L C Joy, E M Joy, Douglas G Joy, and Johnny Joy, and W L Joy of Columbia; his maternal grandmother, Mrs W W Johnson.
