| HIST | of Goat Island, South Carolina JUDY EDWARDS RUSS Posted Tuesday, July 11, 2023 6:00 am Judy Edwards Russ, 75, died on Thursday, July 6, 2023, peacefully at the home of her daughter. Born on Dec. 18, 1947, in Rockingham, North Carolina, she was a daughter of the late Roy and Ettie Elizabeth Diggs Edwards. Mrs. Russ was a member of Summerton Baptist Church. She retired from Tuomey Hospital after 28 years of employment. She was a member of the Red Hat Society and a longtime member of the Orangeburg Area Shag Club. She truly loved the lake life and her Goat Island family. Survivors include two children, Lori Russ Chockley (Joey) of Cowards and Edward "Bubba" Russ (Myra) of Dalzell; five grandchildren, Brooke Feagin, Clayton Feagin, Tyler Barwick, Dustin Chockley and Sidney Chockley; four great-grandchildren, Audrenna Denton, Lillian Denton, Eli Chockley and Isabelle Chockley; and one brother, Wayne Edwards (Diane) of Rockingham. A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. on Thursday in the Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home chapel with the Rev. Billy Carlisle officiating. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4 p.m. on Thursday at Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home. Elmore-Cannon-Stephens Funeral Home and Crematorium of Sumter is in charge of the arrangements.
