| HIST | of Sumter, South Carolina of Pinewood, South Carolina Edna McCown Kolb SUMTER - Edna McCown Kolb, 100, widow of Leroy L. Kolb, Sr., died Sunday, April 11, 2010 at National Healthcare Nursing Facility. Born in Mountain Creek, Anderson County, SC, she was a daughter of the late William McCown and the late Jesse Stevens McCown. Mrs. Kolb was a graduate of Anderson County High School and a 1930 graduate of Winthrop College. She was married to Leroy L. Kolb, Sr., on June 30, 1935. She was a teacher in Sumter School District 17 where she retired in 1971. She was a member of Pinewood Baptist Church. Survivors include three children, William L. Kolb (Betsy Ruple Kolb), Benjamin Jackson Kolb, Sr. (Mary Cone Kolb), and Jane Kolb Harley (James R. "Jimmy" Harley, Sr.); a daughter-in-law, Ledean Prince Kolb; six grandchildren, Elizabeth Kolb Boland, Benjamin Jackson Kolb, Jr. (Sarah Shouse Kolb), Jeffrey L. Kolb (Shelley Copeland Kolb), Lindsey Kolb Stork (Will Stork), James R. "Jay" Harley, Jr. (Brittany Bradley Harley), and Joy Harley Kinney (Timothy E. Kinney); ten great-grandchildren, Pamela Posey, Mary Carson Boland, Benjamin J. Kolb, III, Emily Kolb, Hogan Kolb, Mabry Kolb, Carter Kolb, Clara Kolb, Tillman Kolb, and James R. "Jett" Harley, III. She was preceded in death by a son, Leroy L. Kolb, Jr. Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at Pinewood Baptist Church with Jay Harley, the Rev. Bennie Barwick, and the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will be in the Pinewood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandson, B. Jackson Kolb, Jeffrey Kolb, James R. "Jay" Harley, Jr., Will Stork, Timothy E. Kinney, and Benjamin J. Kolb. Flowerbearers will be great-granddaughters, Pamela Posey, Mary Carson Boland, Emily Kolb, Mabry Kolb, Carter Kolb, and Clara Kolb. The family will receive friends from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday in the Pinewood Baptist Church Fellowship Hall and other times at the home of her daughter, 1135 Cutleaf Dr. Memorials may be made to Pinewood Baptist Church, PO Box 176, Pinewood, SC 29125-0176 or to a charity of one's choice. William, Jack, and Jane, along with their families, thank you for your prayers, cards, visits, and expressions of love. We feel so blessed to have had Mama for 100 years. Most of all we thank God for Christian friends who share our love for Jesus Christ. Thank you also to National Healthcare and the many caregivers who cared for Mama for the past fifteen years.
