William Hatfield | Visit Guest Book HENDERSONVILLE, NC - William "Billy" Hatfield, 78, of Hendersonville, died Tuesday, June 28, 2011, at his home. A native of Sumter, SC, he had lived in Hendersonville off and on for 25 years. He retired from the U.S. Air Force after 26 years of service, having served during the Korean conflict and Vietnam War. He was of the Baptist faith and former owner/operator of Druid Hills Nursing Home in Hendersonville. He was preceded in death by his twin brother, Bobby Hatfield. He is survived by his wife of 11 years, Lois Hatfield; two sons, Michael and Kenneth Hatfield, both of Sumter; three grandchildren, Christopher, Kayla and Tyler; two stepchildren, Kimberly Sabato of Hendersonville, and Tony Morgan of Pendleton, SC; three stepgrandchildren, Ashton, Amelia and Courtney; one brother, Harold Hatfield of Florence, SC; and a sister-in-law, Frances Hatfield of Bishopville, SC. A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, July 2, 2011, at Wayside Baptist Church in Hendersonville, with the Rev. Jeff Tanksersley officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, July 1, 2011, at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be sent to Wounded Warriors Project, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.
