Joyce, died on July 2, 2012. Born in Sumter, she was the daughter of Thomas C. Reed III and Barbara N. Reed. She graduated from Wilson Hall School and was an undergraduate of Coastal Carolina earning her master’s degree in special education from Francis Marion University and a master’s degree in human resources from Leslie University. She later retired from the Horry County School System. Surviving in addition to her husband are a daughter, Virginia “GG” Leigh Joyce of Sumter; two brothers, Thomas C. Reed Jr. of Charleston and Major James Bentham Walker Reed; and a sister, Leigh Reed Dinkins. She was preceded in death by a sister, Miriam V. Reed. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Sumter Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jim Barrineau, Jay Driggers, Jimmy Mims, Terry Reynolds, Edwin Seastrunk and Mike Todd. Born in Sumter, he was the son of the late Clement H. Reed and Miriam DuRant Reed. Mr. Reed was a member of First Presbyterian Church. He was the owner, operator and a licensed forester with Sumter Forest Products. Surviving are his fianc e, Karen Ward of Sumter; a daughter, Leigh DuRant Reed of Sumter, daughter of his former wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Niemeyer Reed; two sons, Thomas Center Reed Jr. (Lindsey Graham, fianc e) of Folly Beach and James Bentham Walker Reed of Sumter, sons of his former wife, Mary Edmunds Reed; a sister, Miriam "Mimi" Reed Broome (Rick) of Sumter; three grandchildren, Virginia Leigh "Gigi" Joyce, Thomas Center Reed III, Barrow Huger Reed; and a nephew, Reed Watts (Mary Lee). He was preceded in death by two daughters, Miriam Virginia "Ginger" Reed and Barbara "Ann" Reed Joyce, daughters of his former wife, Barbara "Bobbie" Niemeyer Reed; and a nephew, William Clement "Chad" Watts. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the DuRant-New Harmony Cemetery at the intersection of Brewington Road and Interstate 95 with the Rev. Mark Yoder officiating.
